Today’s trigger……
For several months I don’t powerlift (train) ………… My mind is disabled on several points….. Most of all I starting to miss the structure I had for so long. Trainingsdays, focus on my lifting goals, which generated the discipline to go for it…. Below the a headline of a newspaper which my mother gave me. This is the same date as the date (30th May 2017) of my first Dutch Championship Powerlift Championship, which I also won 😀 At this stage I feel how important that messages is for me and what I misses at this stage. I have interpreted the text as follows: If you what to be a champion, you have to act like a champion. So you have to do what is needed to achieve your goal. Nothing more and nothing less…. let go of the things (mindsets) which is in your way to achieve your goal….. So it is to figure about (a) new goal(s), which give me focus and give me the inner power which generates the power for the structure and the required discipline…….
Today semi-light trainingsession for the sisters Kensenhuis
Read (dutch) interview of the sisters Kensenhuis, click here!
Today’s lesson was (is) mindset 🙂 Squatting session went great PB’s
were broken in weight vs reps and sometimes you have to feel it when you don’t want to listen 😉 Today biggest learning point was (is) what kind of attitude you can hold with the excersise which give you the biggest challenge……. Do every set (rep) like you are lifting on a meet….. When you withhold yourself, you will achieve exactly what the reason what is causing your withold….. 😉 So when you want to improve your worst excersis, for example, bench press, train like you train your best exercise.

The biggest
difference starts with your (internal) attitude. Otherwise stop training your worst exercise, because it will give you a lot of energy improving your better and best exercise. Conventional deadlift, standing on block, went great. They surprised their selves. What you can see, it all about focus on yourself, during your training (and meet ofcourse).
Final set squat by Iris. When you don’t want to listen, then you have to feel it. What is your idea about this opinion? Next week Saturday Ricky and Claudia will join the training. I’m curious if they are looking forward to it…….
Inspiration by Iris Kensenhuis
Training session with Iris Kensenhuis was memorable …….
Although it was a light training session…. not whahaha Iris improved herself again. Technique is improving. Also the will to improve herself.
During the training she meet herself and it all about taking the time for yourself and you can feel this to listen to your breathing 😉 And yes she didn’t like me at all during the training…
Trainingsession with Iris & Ilrish Kensenhuis
Masterclass Powerlifting at Ironhouse
Awesome performance by the sisters Kensenhuis at the DRC Cup 2017
Iris & Ilrish did a great job at the DRC Cup 2017. Both won the title (Iris in -84kg class and Ilrish in the +84kg class). Awesome performance at the deadlift. Iris deadlifted 200kg. Ilrish is the first female classic powerlifster who deadlifted 210kg in the Netherlands. Below the videos of their meet.
Weekly Powerlifting training and final test for the Master Nationals May 21st
Although I had a busy week for my self at work and luckly it was good to do it 🙂
Also with my work and normal I have to figure out what my basis level is. Yesterday it was great at work and I went over my limit 😉 And today I had a great lunch appointment with a friend which didn’t see for years. It was great and also this kind of meetings cost me a lot energy. With this knowlegde I adjust the training for today on 2 points.
- training at home (instead of the Gym) so I’ve got only interaction (and music) with myself. Therefore less incentives.
- I make less reps.
These 2 adjustments helped me keep enough energy and focus to do a nice and good final rehearsal for the Nationals Powerlifting Masters for next week.
Program today:
Goodmornings 3×8 20kg
Squats 2×8 20kg 2×5 70kg 5x100kg 3x130kg 2x160kg (no belt) 2×187,5kg (only belt) 1×202,5kg new PB (training sleeves + belt) 🙂
Deadlift 2×3 120kg 3x150kg 1x180kg 1×202,5kg 1×222,5kg (belt ‘loose’) 1×232,5kg new PB (tigther belt) 🙂
With deadlift I felt I put too much pressure on my head. I was more willing to pull, than I was focus on a good lift off and focus on my breathing.
Bench press 2×8 20kg 2×5 60kg 5x85kg 2x105kg 1×117,5kg (wrist wraps) 1×127,5kg new PB (wrist wraps + belt)
In my opinion a very good final rehearsal. 202,5kg – 127,5kg – 232,5kg is a (sub) total of 562,5kg at this stage…… What will I be able to lift next week Sunday? 😉
A lot of light weight trainings coming up the coming days 🙂 Recovery time……
