Powerlifting Nationals Masters II 2019
My final Nationals went very good. With big help of my friend Peter Baltus, coaching me during the meet. Michael Kalter my other was also competing so it as a memorable day for. Like the old days when we 3 lifted together.
The day before I felt some nerves I didn’t feld for a long time. Like I did when I started competing. Knowing that this were my final Nationals made me tense (sickly).
The competition went very good. 1st attempt squat gaves me a little pressure and I corrected the movement when I came out of the whole. My final squat 275kg was the best and just 10kg below the National record. In my loose suit I can control the pressure in my head very well 🙂
Bench press went a little bit worse than hoped during the warm-up and therefore I didn’t push myself to much. And finished with 172,5kg.
Deadlifting I do without suit, because also a loose suit generates to much pressure with the liftoff I don’t want that. With my opener 230kg I made the qualify total for the Europeans & Worlds Powerlifting Masters II, so mission accomplished 🙂 In my 2nd attempt I did 242,5kg and in my 3rd and final I felt the emotion that is was my final attempt at the Nationals. I pulled 252,5kg and made a total of 700kg. This is 40kg below the National record, so this will be a nice goal to lift at the Europeans 😉
Thank you all for the support.
Upcoming Equipped Powerlifting Nationals….
Final equipped training for the Nationals :-)
Today I had my final equipped training for the Nationals. Finished the training with 3×2 squats, deadlift and bench press. The weights are approx. the weight of my final warm-up set for my openers next week at the Nationals. Short video of my final sets.
My ‘heaviest’ training session for my final nationals
Glad that today my big friend Peter was helping me out today. He motivated to do an extra step during this training and I went pretty well today. Wearing my loose suit and shirt and still able to lifting a little bite more (with 2 reps) what is required to qualify myself for the EPF Europeans and IPF Worlds Powerifting Masters. Peter is coaching me at the Nationals in two weeks. More info about the Nationals, click here!
Friday training, little step back ….. for next week Friday training……
Today I did a little step back for next week Friday training. Next week will be my ‘heaviest’ training together with my big friend Peter. Looking forward to have an oldskool training session together. I know he is able to give me some extra boost. Classic squats went very well, wearing the new Sublimated Titan Yellow Jackets (click here!)
My weekly friday training
On Friday I do my ‘heaviest’ work out…… So big suit and shirt 🙂 Over 2 weeks my big friend comes to help me out, so I hope I can make the next step and make the right depth with squat in suit. Short video of today’s training.
Training for my final Powerlifting Nationals
Next month is my final Powerlifting Nationals and I hope I will be able to qualify myself the European- & World Powerlifting Championship Masters. My goal is to finish my powerlifting career at the Worlds Masters in October this year. I started competing Powerlifting in march 1985 at the age of 15. This year I will become 50.
Tomorrow it will be 2 years after my brain surgery and I’m pleased how it is going. Nevertheless I have to deal with issues after this surgery and this makes it hard to continue training for powerlifting meets.
Dealing daily with my energy level, combined with work & training, is hard for me. So I train now 3 to 4 times a week for 1 hour. Compare this what I normally did, you can imagine is hard to generate progress in my strength. Even I’m pleased what I’m able of to lift today. Below a short video of today’s training.
Bye bye instagram ;-)
