Mindset is everything

Mindset is everything (by: Claudia Oudijk)

After three hours of travelling to Limmen (where would I be without Google maps?) I finally arrived at Wim’s house. When I was only five minutes at Wim’s house I was already crying (due stress at work, a sore back and some direct questions of Wim).

After the first time crying it was time for some squats. I know I am a lazy powerlifter and the more Wim said I was lazy, the better I squatted.

Mindset.
Mindset.
Mindset.

The more I say or think about it, the more focus I get during my training. Or during work. The body achieves what the mind believes…|
Even how bad everything goes, you can still do squats at 75%. Or 85%. Or 90%. Or more.
One step back, two steps forward. Or was it three Wim? 😉

Do you know how long twenty-one takes? No? Well, try while benching. When you hate benching. And when you don’t want to listen, then you have to feel it. I learnt a lot during this day, it was a very productive training.

The atmosphere was awesome and the company of the Kensenhuis sisters was also great. Between the heavy lifts we talked and laughed (sometimes, when not crying).

Thanks for everything Wim, for the tips, tricks and saying the things I don’t want to hear but need to hear to focus myself in training.
I’m really looking forward the next training.

Inspiration…..

Let’s talk about inspiration ………. It is nice to be surrounded by people who inspire you. Last week Iris, Ilrish, Sandra & Joost came over to train at my homegym. Joost posted a new instagram post (click here) During the training I suggested him “pratices what you preach”, because he is training Sandra now. In my daily work I told my colleagues the same and doing it by myself. When I was powerlift trainer/coach (in the past) I trained the same way I preach. This helped me to stay focus, gave my structure and generate the needed discpline which is required in my sport, work and personal life.

The last 5 months I didn’t train, due mine recovery and what I tried I couldn’t handle more work and need some rest moments during the day. This is what I have to cope with. Iris asked me: So you will wait to  do something till you have be at the neurologist (January 2018, due waiting list)…… That is a question that I could ask to somebody else 😀

I know I have the restrictions in my brain/mind/head and yes I’m afraid and this was the question I needed to get back in light training again this week. So it is nice to get inspired by  the people surround you. Thank you all 😀

Body felt a little bit sore and therefore some “heavier” weights 😆 and tomorrow a “rest” day instead of today. Also I contacted my big friend Brad and told him I start up some light training. In the next year I will follow his 3 days program added with some extra light session like I did a few years ago.

Yep, today I continue my light trainingsession…. You can feel some sore muscles when you have lifted only an empty bar….. therefor some light weights again and tomorrow a restday. Just to figure out how my body will respond on this (light) trainingsessions.

Personal instagram post:

What can I say……..

5 month ago I stopped training. At that stage I couldn’t handle the problems I got after my operation. At this stage I still suffer from restrictions in my head. My mind isn’t able to handle the same I did before I became ill. Nevertheless I took several different paths to figure out if it will become better. At this stage it is not making a difference which path I take, therefor I hope the neurologist can help me, only I had to wait till next year 🙁 Iris and Ilrish confront me yesterday with the question: So you will wait till then and you won’t do anything health/fitness? ……….. Although I have to wait it is time to do something for my health/fitness……even it is only a little bit… The last two days I was to stiff to show the athletes what I mean which technical improvement I saw and told to them….. The coming weeks will be tough due the sore muscles (myalgia) and it started today. I started with some warm up excersises followed by 5×8 20kg squat, 5×5 50kg conventional deadlift en 5×8 20kg bench press….. See how my body will respond on that tomorrow and the days which followed…… the coming weeks I started to do at least 3 light training session…… Today was number 1…..
